British food producer V&H has secured new stockists for its two retail brands of luxury Japanese desserts.
The company’s Little Moons brand of frozen mochi ice cream, which is available in six unique flavours and coated with one of three toppings, has added a new listing with fine food retailer Partridges after a successful half-year in Whole Foods Markets.
Tsuki Mochi, V&H’s line of mochi truffles available in two different varieties, has also secured a new placement in Whole Foods Market.
The two new contracts – to join existing retailers such as Selfridges – represent “an important development for the business, which is implementing a wider retail rollout as part of its mission to put mochi on the map in Britain”.
Mochi is a Japanese rice cake made from a sticky type of rice, which is pounded into a ball, filled with ice cream and dusted to produce a traditional dessert with a “soft and bouncy” texture.
V&H co-Founder Howard Wong said: “Growing sales of our two mochi brands, Little Moons and Tsuki Mochi, has been fuelled by an increase in consumer demand for innovation in the chilled and frozen dessert categories and has enabled the brand to expand its distribution network.
“Whole Foods Market and Partridges are the perfect premium partners to complement our portfolio of existing stockists and will allow more people than ever to experience mochi, which we believe is set to be a significant culinary trend in 2016.”
