Lipton Ice Tea is already established within the UK market, with sales in excess of six million litres in the last year and good distribution within the impulse and grocery channels.
The Lipton Ice Tea range comprises four variants in two formats: Lemon and Peach (both available in 500ml and 1.5-litre), and Mango and Green Orange (500ml only). According to the company, Lipton Ice Tea is a natural source of antioxidants and contains no artificial colourings or ingredients.
“Lipton Ice Tea is a great addition to the Britvic portfolio, as the Lipton brand is the second biggest player in the global drinks market,” said Jonathan Gatward, brand director at Britvic. “It also extends Britvic’s unparalleled offering to a new subcategory, consolidating our position as the soft drinks company with the broadest portfolio in the UK; offering more choice to our customers.
“This new, exclusive bottling agreement also signals our commitment to continuing to strengthen our partnership with PepsiCo and its key brands,” commented.”
Bruno Gruwez, PepsiCo marketing manager, said: “Lipton Ice is the market leader in ready-to-drink tea and is a category with enormous growth potential in the UK. The new addition of Lipton Ice to the Pepsi family underlines the continued expansion of the portfolio, which offers customers an increasing range of choice.”
Lipton Ice Tea was previously distributed by Unilever, who retain ownership of the Lipton master brand and will continue to distribute Lipton Hot Tea in the UK.
