Cider brand Brothers has announced the introduction of a new coconut and lime variety, which is set to become the first coconut cider in the market.
Rolling out in Tesco stores this May, the product uses real coconut water and lime juice to create a light, clean and refreshing flavour. Its launch will coincide with early summer trade, and capitalises on the growing demand for coconut-based products.
In January, we reported that consumption of coconut water in the UK was set to reach 25m litres before the end of the year, according to figures published by Datamonitor Consumer.
The brand will also release a strawberry and kiwi variety of its existing strawberry-flavoured cider, as it celebrates its 20th year of trading.
Brothers managing director Matthew Showering said: “As an independent, family-run business we are under constant pressure from bigger multi-national competitors so we are always looking for ways to innovate within the market.
“We have seen great success with our unique toffee apple cider and feel it’s important to offer customers something different to the many red berry liquids now available.
“We want our 20th anniversary to be memorable for our customers. Brothers is a fun, independent, festival brand with a great story. We feel it’s important to stay true to these values that our customers love so much. With so much choice in the market we know how discerning customers are so it’s important we listen to what they want.
“The new-look packaging and the launch of a new coconut and lime cider have been created following extensive research which has shaped our strategy, allowing us to deliver what our customers really want.”
