Canadian Wild Blueberries has extended availability of its Bart ‘n’ Lainy’s brand of blueberries in syrup, securing nationwide distribution in the UK.
The blueberries are packed in ambient 540g jars, with each 25g serving providing 18 calories and zero fat, saturates or cholesterol. Canadian Wild Blueberries are widely used in the UK as a food ingredient, the company claimed, but Bart ’n’ Lainy’s is the first ever retail brand.
Bart ‘n’ Lainy’s co-founder Mike Nicholas said: “Over 2000 consumers tried the product in 2015 and the positive feedback couldn’t have been clearer. People knew about the fruit’s reputation for nutrition, but the big talking points were flavour and convenience. Blueberries are especially popular at breakfast with cereal, porridge and yogurt and people kept telling us they particularly liked the idea of something that would keep well in the fridge without any waste.
“We’ve known about these small berries and the spectacular Canadian wilderness where they grow for many years and it has become a bit of a personal mission to bring them over here [to the UK].”
