A new bottling line, which doubles the output at the Bridge Street brewery, was opened by Carlsberg Group’s president and CEO, JØrgen Buhl Rasmussen.
Rasmussen said: “This bottling line secures our long-term future in our UK home of Northampton where we have been based for over 30 years. It provides jobs for the town and demonstrates to the wider world that Northampton is a key centre for business.
“The UK is an incredibly important market for Carlsberg Group and the completion of this project means that all UK bottling can now be done in the UK. This is good news for us, it’s good news for our customers, our consumers, and importantly, it’s great news for British brewing.”
The new bottling line has been designed to ensure that resource and environmental impacts are minimised. This includes a 3,000 litre rain water harvesting tank and the building exceeds stringent UK efficiency regulations by 6%.
The facility has been named the Carlsberg Cube following an internal competition amongst the brewer’s employees to come up with a fitting name for the building which is adjacent to the River Nene and one of the first buildings to be constructed in the Northampton Enterprise Zone.
