This makes it the UK’s leading authority for microbial identification and testing in the UK – an important service for the food and drink industry in relation to compliance and safety standards.
The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is the sole national accreditation body recognised by the British government to assess the competence of organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.
The provision of microbial services to corporate and research customers across the industrial, biotechnology and agricultural sectors in the UK is essential for many manufacturers in the food and drink industry. The ability to quickly identify potential contaminations saves companies spoilage, time and, ultimately, money.
“Receiving accurate identification and advice is business critical for many of our customers,” said CABI’s director of bioservices, Dr Paul Bridge. “The accuracy of our identification and testing services enables our customers to optimise production quality and processes, avoid spoilage and also facilitates trade and biosecurity through more robust quarantine advice.”
CABI is now unique in the UK, as it is the only service to be UKAS accredited for the entire identification process, including providing the name of the organism up to species level.
