USPTO-issued patent 8,389,614 is a significant patent for the company and for the field of biodegradable polymers, because it’s the first of its kind.
This patent expands Cereplast’s growing intellectual property portfolio and protects the composition formulation invented by the Cereplast R&D team.
Frederic Scheer, chairman and CEO of Cereplast, said: “Protecting the intellectual property of the company is a high priority and is an important part of our long-term growth strategy, as is creating new grades of bioplastic resin that expand the properties available to meet the ever-growing needs of the marketplace.
“This new patent is the first for biodegradable nano-polymer compositions and further establishes Cereplast’s role as a leader in the bioplastics industry.
