The Sustainability Summit underlined CCE’s commitment to Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability and provided a further opportunity to develop joint ideas and initiatives in this crucial area.
Stephen Moorhouse, GM and VP of CCE’s European Supply Chain, said: “2009 was an excellent year for our business in Europe, and we partly owe this success to the strong relationships that we’ve built with suppliers such as Ball Packaging Europe, Howard Tenens and Ardagh Glass.
“Ball Packaging Europe again demonstrated outstanding collaboration with us at all levels of the organisation to achieve joint goals and priorities. They are supporting our commitment to sustainable packaging by helping us to reduce the weight of our cans, and also helped us to deliver excellent service to our customers by providing a faultless and flexible supply of goods.
“We have put Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at the heart of our business, and are therefore delighted to present haulage and warehousing supplier Howard Tenens with this year’s CRS award. This recognises their considerable achievements in helping us to reduce our CO2 emissions, through trialling gas-fuelled vehicles, and also in developing a new sustainable warehouse.
“Our Most Improved Supplier Award goes to Ardagh Glass, who has made the most progress in the past year in building a successful partnership with CCE. We have worked with Ardagh on a number of projects, including continuous quality improvement, reducing the weight of our glass bottles, and improving logistics efficiency.”
