Consolidated sales volume is up 13.8% from 242.2 million unit cases in first-half 2008 to 275.6 million unit cases in first-half 2009. International operations share in total volume rose from 19.8% in first-half 2008 to 25.9% as Pakistan’s volume was proportionally consolidated.
Unit case volume in Turkey increased by 5% in the first half of 2009 with the help of sustained growth in still beverages and non-ready-to-drink tea sales. Lower consumer spending and high base effect had a negative impact on sparkling category during the first four months of 2009.
Water, ice tea, juice and non-ready-to-drink tea sales more than offset the contraction in sparkling beverages. However, starting from May, the sparkling category has started to post monthly growth on a year-on-year basis in line with the relative recovery in consumer spending coupled with successful consumer promotions during the second quarter of 2009.
