The CSR Index Award, in the ‘large company’ category, commended local operations on initiatives involving economic sustainability, incorporation of CSR into business strategies, environmental protection, market relations and contributions to the community.
In addition to the award, the chairman of the supervisory board of Coca-Cola Hellenic Croatia, Jakša Barbi?, who is also a Fellow of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award acknowledging his efforts in introducing company law into the Croatian legal system.
“Recognition of our efforts to instil CSR into every aspect of our operations, across each of our 28 countries, is extremely encouraging,” said John Brady, regional director of Coca-Cola Hellenic. “In seeking to achieve its CSR objectives, Coca-Cola Hellenic actively engages with governments, NGOs, educational institutions, local authorities and communities. The Group also transparently reports on its activities and goals, achieving listings of the FTSE4Good Index, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (World and European STOXX), and has been named a ‘Notable Reporter’ by the UN Global Compact for its annual sustainability reports.”
The Group’s operations in Croatia first published a Social Responsibility Report in 2003, and began issuing a Sustainability Report in 2005. The 2007 and 2008 reports received the highest possible scores from the independent committee of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development.
Other CSR projects have garnered international awards and, in 2008, the company was the recipient of its first CSR Index Award.
