Sponsorship of the Summer Series is the latest high-profile music venture for Coke, that has previously seen partnerships with iconic figures from the world of music and culture, such as Peter Blake and Matthew Williamson.
Recent collaborations have included projects with Cee-Lo, Brendon Urie and Travis McCoy to create an exclusive single for the ‘Open Happiness’ ad campaign, and most recently with Calvin Harris to create the track ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah, La La La’ (currently showing on British TV as the soundtrack to the Coca-Cola summer ad).
The events run from 9-20 July, with Calvin Harris playing on the final night. The line-up for 2009 includes Lily Allen, Grace Jones, Super Furry Animals and The Enemy, among others. The partnership between Coca-Cola and Somerset House was put together by Big Fish, a live music commerce agency.
Cathryn Sleight, marketing director of Coca-Cola Great Britain, said: “Coca-Cola has a heritage of involvement and support of music. We’re delighted to be presenting the Summer Series and hope it will be an enjoyable and inspiring series of events for music lovers.”
