Craft distiller Warner Edwards has taken the classic combination of gin and tonic with lemon and “amplified it”, launching a limited-edition gin flavoured with lemon balm.
Warner Edwards’ Melissa lemon balm gin is the first of its limited-edition Botanical Garden range to use one of various herbaceous plants from Warner Edwards’ newly built garden. Distilled using pure spring water, each gin is balanced with the flavours and aromas of garden herbs, the distiller said.
Named after the Latin for the lemon balm plant, the 43% ABV gin is an herbaceous explosion on the pallet full of fresh green notes, including “robust” juniper and “beautiful” citrus and mint that make the gin fresh and distinctive with a very delicate sweetness, Warner Edwards added.
Each bottle will have a seed packet for people to start their own herb garden and grow their very own lemon balm.
Stockists will include Fortnum & Mason, and the gin will have a recommended retail price of £40 per bottle when it goes on sale later in the week.
