Packaging manufacturer Crown has expanded its canning facility in Nagykörös, Hungary by opening a new easy-open end manufacturing facility, which features a dual-production line.
The new site will produce 65mm and 73mm ‘easy-open ends’
The plant will manufacture ‘easy-open end’ cans for vegetable brands, ready meal producers and pet food brands throughout Eastern Europe.
Crown claims it identified the expansion as demand for canned food products in Eastern Europe is rising, and it wanted to capitalise on this surge in demand.
One of the manufacturing lines will produce 73mm ends and the other 65mm easy-open ends, and the brand claims the two lines comply with the quality standards the brand has established at its other manufacturing plants.
Laetitia Durafour, senior marketing & communication manager at Crown Food Europe said: “European food can volume growth is largely being driven by the Eastern countries, while production in the Western region has remained relatively level.
“This growth is generated by developing regions in Eastern Europe, where preserved foods are popular and metal cans remain the preferred packaging type in terms of product preservation, presentation and added value.
“Creating a dual line facility in Eastern Europe highlights Crown’s long-term commitment to the region, while also ensuring easy open ends are available to its customers across the continent via a well-established distribution network.”
