The Answer prevents microorganisms from compromising product safety even during prolonged unrefrigerated use, a key technological “unlock” to solving this challenge.
Under the agreement, PepsiCo will buy The Answer taps for use in a wide variety of PepsiCo non-carbonated ready to drink beverages ands syrups and concentrates. The agreement between IDC and PepsiCo will maximise exposure of the multi-serve aseptic package, and it is expected to result in a number of product launches in regions around the world starting in early 2012.
IDC’s manufacturing partner, Hoffer Plastics, will produce the taps in South Elgin, and ship them internationally as required by PepsiCo.
Greg Abbott, founder, chairman and CEO of IDC, said: “We are pleased to be working with PepsiCo on a global basis to commercialise a multi-serve aseptic package with The Answer, with all its economic, nutritional, and environmental benefits.
“PepsiCo is an ideal partner for IDC – a global company with a diverse portfolio of well established beverage brands, the vision to embrace game-changing technology, and the drive to execute on its vision. IDC believes PepsiCo has the ability to make The Answer, and the bulk aseptic package it enables, a mainstream format in regions all around the world.”
