Revenue in the quarter fell on the sale of the JP Fresh and Dole France businesses, but also due to unfavourable foreign exchange rates and reduced economic activity experienced by many European supermarkets, the company said in the statement.
For the third quarter ended 10 October, the company’s net loss widened to $54m from of $21m last year. Net revenue fell 14% to 1.93bn, with sales in fresh fruit, its largest segment, down 17%. Sales in its fresh vegetables segment fell 8%, while packaged food sales fell 4%.
