Commenting on the results, Coca-Cola Icecek CEO, Michael A O’Neill, said: “Coca-Cola Icecek delivered 276 million unit cases of sales volume, up by 14% and 1,184 million lira of net revenues, up by 12% in the first half of 2009. Ebitda increased by 6% to 204 million lira.
“Furthermore, while delivering our top line, we managed to keep our margins at healthy levels. I’m pleased with our performance considering the fact that we’re operating in a number of very challenging markets. Our focus on supply chain and marketing efficiencies, together with capital expenditure and the launch of affordable packages in international operations, have helped in delivering these numbers.
“Our effort on the sustainability and accountability front was recognised, as CCI was selected as number one among the top 50 companies in Turkey in the AccountAbility Rating 2008. In addition, CCI has been assigned a Corporate Governance Rating of 8.30 out of maximum score of 10.
“We remain positive for the near-term outlook and we’re on track to deliver top-line growth going forward. We continue to focus on driving cost out of our system with a very clear strategy of having a lean and fit organisation capable of optimising on opportunities.
“The alcohol-free beverage sector will recover as both the macroeconomic environment improves and consumer spending increases, and CCI is well positioned to reap the benefits. As we operate in countries with favourable demographics and which have relatively low per capita consumption of sparkling beverages, I believe there’s ample room for healthy improvement in the years ahead.”
