Bottled mineral water brand Evita is returning to the Polish market after Lublin-based owners Fonti acquired the rights to the range, as well as a production facility in the Northeast of the country.
The brand was originally launched in the mid-1990s but disappeared from the market as a result of problems encountered by its then-owners. It was inspired by Eva Perón, the wife of former Argentinian president Juan Perón.
The revamped Evita product line will be available in still (green), sparkling (blue) and lightly sparkling (turquoise) varieties, to be manufactured at source in the town of Biskupiec. Fonti describes the drink as “a low sodium water with a mild taste… characterised by a balanced mineral combination, and in particular a very good relation of calcium to magnesium”. It contains 513mg of minerals in every litre and is available in stylish, convenient 1.5l bottles.
Tomasz Księżopolski, CEO of Fonti, claimed that the brand’s recognition, taste and composition of minerals were reasons behind the company’s decision to acquire Evita. As part of the same acquisition, Fonti also bought other drinks brands that will allow it to enhance its position in the cola, bread gira and fruit soft drink categories. Księżopolski stressed the importance of the bottled water market’s continuing growth before anticipating that Fonti will expand its brand and packaging portfolio in the near future.
