Approximately 750 people will benefit from the new filters. Helped by friends, family members, and neighbours, the teams of volunteers focused on the villages of Natalecake, Vadravadra, and Wavuwavu in the province of Ba, Fiji.
In Ba people not only endure frequent water shortages but are often forced to use rain and river water when bad weather disrupts the local water supply. The result is an intolerably high level of dangerous water-borne diseases.
In order to eradicate the problem, Give Clean Water installed Point One Filters, which remove 99.99% of the bacteria that cause typhoid, cholera, and other dangerous diseases.
Once the devices were properly secured, the volunteers then showed home owners how to use and maintain them in conjunction with basic principles of hygiene and sanitation.
