Lake District Dairy Co Quark from First Milk is launched to British caterers this month through an exclusive national listings deal with foodservice supplier Brakes.
Quark is a naturally fat-free dairy ingredient that’s high in protein and provides a no-fat, low-sugar and low-salt substitute ingredient in many dishes. It can replace the likes of cream cheese, double cream, mascarpone, Greek yogurt and crème fraiche in sweet and savoury recipes.
“Brakes has a great tradition of being the first to bring not only products to market, but also entire ranges, such as being the first foodservice company to offer its own range of Red Tractor Farm Assured products and the first to offer an MSC-approved product,” said Ben Newby, dairy category manager at Brakes. “We are therefore proud and excited to add Lake District Dairy Co Quark to that list. It has all the key health credential messages our customers are asking for, while being versatile in its functionality, and still tasting great. We look forward to it giving our customers yet another great reason to order from Brakes.”
“It’s great to now be able to distribute Lake District Dairy Co Quark to the thousands of UK pubs, restaurants, coffee shops and larger-scale catering providers in the Brakes network,” said First Milk commercial director Glyn Hughes. “The popularity of quark in the UK is sky rocketing, consumer demand and retail sales in the category have increased by 37% in the last year, with Lake District Dairy Co leading that growth.”
Lake District Dairy Co Quark was a winner in the Dairy Innovation Awards 2013, in the ‘Best functional dairy product’ category. It’s available in catering-sized 2kg tubs.
