The organisation has helped the likes of Walkers Shortbread, Dr Stuart’s and Quorn build international markets for their uniquely British products in countries as far flung as Scandinavia, North America and Japan.
Marlow Foods (part of Premier Foods), producers of the iconic Quorn brand, is just one of the many success stories to come out of FFB’s 25-year reign. Peter Banks is the commercial director at the company and has worked with FFB for the past 15 years to reinforce Quorn’s reputation abroad. During that time, the famous meat alternative has become a household name overseas – an achievement that would never have been possible without the guidance and support from Food from Britain.
“I have dedicated the past 15 years to building Quorn’s international business, and during that time, FFB and its International network has been an invaluable resource,” said Banks. “Launching and promoting products in the UK is hard enough, but add in the international element and it’s a whole different ball game. I’m truly disappointed to see FFB close in the UK, but I’m confident that there’s a whole raft of arrangements in place, including FFB’s international network, that won’t leave exporters like us floundering once the organisation has gone.”
