Australian cereal and snacks maker Freedom Foods is expanding its international operations with a move into the Vietnamese UHT milk market.
The Sydney-based company said that its Pactum Dairy Group business is partnering with International Dairy Products to launch a range of Australian products.
“The product range will retail at a small premium to domestic UHT fresh products,” Freedom Foods managing director Rory Macleod said in a statement.
“With product safety and source a key priority for Vietnamese consumers, IDP have also launched a traceability program that allows its consumers to further engage with their products and trace back to the area that their milk was sourced from.”
With the milk coming from the Goulburn Valley, the emphasis on safety and quality is the same as that which has brought success to Australian companies exporting milk and health products to China.
Freedom Foods has sold toddler milk in China since 2015, as well as infant formula and infant cereals under its Australia’s Own label.
In a separate agreement, it said it is expanding its partnership with Chinese distributor Pinlive to increase the range of Pinlive branded food products sourced directly from Australia. It expects the first of the additional products to launch in China in the second half of 2016.
