The visits are a way that Northland District Health Board can get in behind Fonterra Milk for Schools and show support for such a worthy initiative, says Dr Loek Henneveld, Northland District health board’s medical officer of health.
Dr Henneveld, said: “Research shows that many of our children miss out on healthy, nutritious food to the detriment of their physical and mental development. Milk is a good source of calcium, riboflavin, vitamins A, D, and B12, Pantothenic acid, high quality proteins and micronutrients which are building blocks for healthy growth.
“The daily servings of milk provided will ensure all school children participating get these nutrients. Northland DHB supports Fonterra Milk for Schools as it will improve the nutritional health of our children.”
