Highland Spring sold nearly 200 million litres in 2012 to take the top spot in the bottled water market by volume.
Zenith’s new figures, as published in its 2013 UK Bottled Water Report confirms Highland Spring’s status as ‘the nation’s favourite bottled water’, selling more than any other brand.
The Highland Spring brand grew 9.0% by volume in 2012, driving around 20% of the total packaged water market growth and increasing brand share to 10.6% (2011: 10.2%).
Nearly 14% of British households now buy Highland Spring, with market penetration increasing; in 2012, 700,000 new households bought the brand.
Highland Spring has also retained its status as the No 1 sparkling brand, with a brand share by volume nearly double its nearest competitor.
Les Montgomery, chief executive of Highland Spring Group, said: “This is a British success story that we’re incredibly proud of. We have fulfilled one of our long-term ambitions of becoming the UK’s biggest selling bottled water brand, and we are now looking forward to the next chapter as we build on our No 1 position.”
