International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) has broken ground on a new plant in Sri City, India, which will be the company’s largest site in Asia.
Occupying a 130,000-square-metre plot, the facility is expected to be fully operational in December 2019, serving the flavour and fragrance manufacturing market in Asia.
IFF said the site, which will be built in the state of Andhra Pradesh, will have “excellent logistics options, access to skilled labour, and solid infrastructure and utilities”.
It is designed for efficient water use and built using energy efficient building materials and equipment to maximise natural daylight.
IFF CEO Andreas Fibig said: “In this economically vibrant country, it is critical that we invest to provide our customers with winning tastes and scents. This new facility is fitted with capabilities tailored for our customers’ needs. Coupled with our excellent consumer insights teams and their deep understanding of the local markets, we are well positioned to live up to our promise to be our customers’ partner of choice.”
IFF India managing director MG Prakash added: “India is a priority market for IFF. We are excited about our investment at Sri City and the world-class manufacturing facility designed to meet our customers’ current and future needs.
