The cousins recently visited Australia to visit Valcorp, their locally based distributor. The BRW article also states that they were targeting ‘new markets’, including corporate offices.
The Italian company recently appointed a new management team, but remains a family business, with Marco and Giuseppe sitting on the board of directors.
“Asia is very important – it’s booming,” said Marco, “but it’s still small numbers for us [in terms of] espresso [sales]. There’s potential, but we need to wait. We firstly have to be more effective in and strengthen our core markets.”
Australia is Lavazza’s fifth largest market, contributing about a third of overall sales in the total Australian retail and foodservice market.
Starbucks holds the top position in the region, controlling more than a quarter of the market by coffee sales.
