The £1m project will see the construction of a new, bespoke cutting and packing hall for ‘Speciality Cheese’.
The ‘Speciality Cheese’ facility will give Milk Link an enhanced capability to cut and pack a range of traditional hard-pressed and crumbly territorial cheeses for premium customers in the UK and abroad. This will complement Milk Link’s existing market leadership in retailer brand Cheddar-making and packing.
Work on the construction of the new packing hall commenced this week, which is projected to be fully operational in September. The facility will create more than 20 new jobs for the area, and staff recruitment and training will begin in April.
Commenting on the development, Mark Frankcom, director of speciality cheese for Milk Link, said: “This investment will significantly enhance our capability in ‘Speciality Cheese’ and enable us to deliver more of what our customers need to win in this growing sector of the market.”
