The Courtauld Commitment was a voluntary agreement between Wrap and major UK grocery retailers and brand owners that supports less packaging and food waste ending up in household bins.
Courtauld Commitment 2 moves away from solely weight-based targets and aims to achieve more sustainable use of resources over the entire life cycle of products, throughout the whole supply chain.
“As a global family brewer, Molson Coors is proud to be a founding signatory of Courtauld Commitment 2,” said Martin Thomas, Molson Coors (UK) supply chain director. “We believe this is not only the right thing to do, but also makes great commercial sense. Our customers are telling us that the environment is becoming ever more important to them and also to our UK beer drinkers. By signing up to Courtauld Commitment 2, we’re continuing the journey we started with Wrap when we undertook to lightweight our 300ml Grolsch bottle, by fully committing to Courtauld Commitment and now following with our commitment to the phase 2.”
The majority of Molson Coors primary packaging materials are either recyclable, refillable and/or lightweighted, which reduces materials used for packaging and lowers transportation costs.
Today, more than 95% of co-products and waste at Molson Coors (UK) breweries are reused or recycled.
