UK goals-based meal provider, MunchFit, has raised £1.2 million in a Crowdcube crowdfunding campaign to accelerate the growth of its business.
Founded in 2013, MunchFit operates fitness cafés and a nationwide meal plan service tailored to fitness goals, while also offering some products through retailers such as Ocado.
In 2016, MunchFit launched partnerships with premium fitness outlets Equinox and Barry’s Bootcamp, supplying prepared meals for gym-goers and opening MunchFit cafés within all of Equinox’s UK sites.
Last year, with its cafés shuttered by the pandemic, MunchFit unveiled its meal plans for nationwide delivery.
The company’s latest funding push saw MunchFit secure equity investment from 330 investors, including entrepreneur and television personality Spencer Matthews.
MunchFit will use the new capital to open five more cafés, launch its Fuel range into major supermarkets, improve the user experience on its website and e-commerce platform and hire additional employees in order to expand into new business areas. The company claims that this could increase production by up to 400%.
“The level of interest and support has been incredible. We had ambitions to raise £1 million, so to have surpassed this really feels like a real vote of confidence and widens the scope of what we can do with the business,” said Angus Fay, CEO and founder of MunchFit.
“Most of us have aspirations to be healthy, but lack of time is often the biggest obstacle to achieving our goals: scratch cooking healthy meals goes out the window in favour of grabbing something on-the-go. This means that no matter how hard we work out, if our diet isn’t balanced, we won’t get the results we want to see.
“Post-pandemic, there is an increasing appetite for high-quality, health-conscious products – and we’re confident that MunchFit can deliver more than healthy returns.”
