Nestlé has launched a new range of frozen flavoured custards under its Dreyer’s brand – the first such product to be introduced to the US market.
Dreyer’s Frozen Custard will initially be available in six flavours – chocolate malt, cookies and cream, old-fashioned vanilla, peanut butter pie, salted caramel pretzel and snickerdoodle, which combines vanilla custard with biscuit pieces and cinnamon.
Packaged in 32oz cartons and contains between 210 and 250 calories per half-cup serving, with no more than 22g of sugar. It has a recommended retail price of between $4.99 and $5.49.
The product innovation represents a diversification of Dreyer’s product line, which has traditionally consisted of ice creams and frozen yogurts.
The company said: “It may look like ice cream, but one scoop and you’ll know that it’s something completely new. Dreyer’s Frozen Custard is rich, extra thick and creamy and made with wholesome ingredients like fresh milk. Plus, it comes in flavors your entire family will fall for.”
Brand manager Jason Merideth added: “Frozen custard is traditionally viewed as a treat that families would leave their homes to enjoy. We’re thrilled to be able to bring this beloved dessert into freezers across the country for families to enjoy in the comfort of their homes. The innovation that went into creating the perfect experience of classic custard flavors and high-quality, wholesome ingredients with no artificial colors or flavors is something our brands are proud to stand by.”
