This was the feedback from attendees at a special briefing, held at the Department of Business Innovation and Skills (BIS), to find a University partner to develop a dedicated new engineering degree to help get graduates ready for a career in the food and drink sector.
More than 20 universities from all across the UK attended the briefing, which was hosted by the Food and Drink Federation (FDF), Improve and the National Skills Academy (NSA).
The new degree course will form a fundamental part of the UK food and drink industry’s ‘Graduate Ambition’ to help equip graduates with the technical skills and knowledge that the food and drink manufacturing industry requires.
FDF human resources director, Angela Coleshill, said: “We are delighted that so many universities from all across the UK have taken an interest in partnering with us on our Graduate Ambition. This new degree course will be vital in ensuring we attract the top class young talent qualified to meet the specific needs of our sector.”
