OAL Group, a process and automation solutions specialist for the food industry, recently won the most innovative processing machinery award at the PPMA 2014 show, for its Steam Infusion technology.
Steam Infusion is a unique heating and mixing process that infuses steam into liquid food products in a vacuum. The process has been found to improve the nutritional content, colour, flavour, texture, viscosity and consistency of heat-sensitive food products.
Further research and development is being undertaken in a £1m UK government funded Nutrition for Life project at the Steam Infusion Test Centre in the National Centre for Food Manufacturing, Holbeach. The brand’s Steam Infusion process has also been shortlisted for the Food and Drink Federation Innovation Award.
