Norwegian food group Orkla has entered into an agreement with PepsiCo Nordic to become a major partner in the region for brands such as Tropicana, Quaker and Lay’s.
Entering into force at the beginning of next year, the agreement will lead to Orkla playing an extended role in the sale and distribution of PepsiCo products across Scandinavia. The Oslo-based company has been responsible for Tropicana juices in Sweden, Denmark and Finland since 2015.
Orkla CEO Peter A Ruzicka said: “We are delighted that PepsiCo has chosen Orkla as the preferred partner for the sale of PepsiCo juices, cereals and snacks in the Nordic region. Orkla’s distribution agreement with PepsiCo is an important step towards becoming a leading brand group. The partnership with PepsiCo will strengthen Orkla’s presence in the breakfast segment and snacks category.”
PepsiCo Nordics CEO Björn Bern Mann said: “The Nordic region is an important market for PepsiCo and the announcement of our deeper cooperation with Orkla marks a significant step forward for our business. Since we established business more than 25 years ago, we have gradually strengthened our position and we are seeing today many growth opportunities for our brands. In Orkla, we have found a partner with similar values, a complementary portfolio and a driven sales organisation. Together we are in a favourable position to drive growth in the Nordic countries.”
