A new protective, anti-corrosive resin could lead to thousands of pounds’ worth of operational savings for the food industry, according to the company behind it.
Oxifree is launching its new resin for the food manufacturing sector, which it said can minimise waste from plant downtime – and even help to eliminate it altogether, as the resin can be applied whilst the equipment is still running. The company also boasted “a minimum five-fold increase on bearings and even more impressive life extensions on non-rotating parts”.
One of the key advantages of Oxifree over traditional coatings is that it is completely reusable, the manufacturer said, and, because of its low volatile organic compound content of 0.05%, the material has no adverse ecological or environmental impact.
Oxifree UK operations manager Richard Woodward said: “Oxifree could save thousands of pounds in maintenance costs by stopping corrosion in its tracks. Moisture ingress on electrical points can, in particular, damage and reduce life expectancy, which generates substantial operational costs in replacement. The organic coating of Oxifree forms an excellent physical barrier against corrosive environments.”
“Oxifree could play a pivotal role in helping food and drink manufacturers protect and extend the lifespan of their assets. It has been used extensively across the mining, utilities and oil and gas industries and has been proven to extend the life of roller bearings in conveyer systems by 500%. Other assets including motors, gearboxes, flanges and valves are also well suited to protection through Oxifree and can benefit from similar levels of life extension. We also know it can withstand years of exposure in harsh environments, typically in excess of ten years. It is therefore a winning solution that can bring considerable savings to the food industry.”
