Under terms of the new lease, PBC will remain headquartered in the 540,000 sq ft building located at 1 Pepsi Way through the end of 2015. The agreement also includes an option to extend the lease for an additional five years.
“We’re excited to share this news with the local community and the state leaders who worked to assure us that New York will continue to be a great place to do business,” said Eric J Foss, CEO of Pepsi Beverages Company. “The Pepsi enterprise has had a long and successful history in New York. We’ve always been proud to play a positive role in the communities in and around Westchester County, and we’re eager to continue doing so in the years ahead.”
The nine-story building houses approximately 1,200 employees and contractors who lead and support PBC’s 70,000 employees in the US, Canada and Mexico. PBC currently occupies seven of those floors and, as the sole tenant of the building, can expand to fill the remaining space over time. PepsiCo, whose worldwide headquarters is also based in Westchester County, is directly responsible for more than 10,000 jobs in New York State.
The Somers building has been part of the Pepsi enterprise since 1985. It was previously the headquarters of Pepsi Bottling Group, which merged with PepsiCo last year.
