PepsiCo already fields the purified water brand Aquafina, but lacks a product to compete with The Coca-Cola Company’s Glacéau Vitaminwater and Smartwater brands. According to Beverage Digest, sales volume for The Coca-Cola Company’s Smartwater is up 16% for the first half of 2013.
PepsiCo has so far declined to comment or provide any details.
