It’s the first time the vending and coffee company has elected to focus its charitable endeavours on a single good cause.
“We’ll be organising all sorts of events throughout the year,” said managing director Alistair Balmforth, “but the blue riband event will be our attempt at The Yorkshire Peaks Challenge, which sees walkers climbing a total 2,153 metres and walking 25 miles up Pen-Y-Ghent, followed by Whernside and finishing with the unforgiving Ingleborough. Each team member has to achieve at least £191 in sponsorship, as that’s what it costs to fund a Macmillan Cancer nurse for one day.”
Refreshment Systems has already presented its first donation to the charity. Staff raised £165 by contributing the cost of a stamp in lieu of sending Christmas cards.
