Sainsbury’s Supermarkets picked up the award for Best New Juice Product for their chilled apple and boysenberry juice. Packed by Princes in the UK under the Sainsbury’s brand, this is a mix of single-strength apple with boysenberry puree from New Zealand. This pure juice scored points for presenting the consumer with an unusual flavour in mainstream product, which delivers great taste and colour.
A spokesperson from Princes said: “We worked closely with the team at Sainsbury’s to develop an exciting new pressed juice product.”
The award was accepted on behalf of Sainsbury’s Supermarkets and Princes by Roger Brough of Berryfruit New Zealand, the suppliers of the boysenberry puree used in the drink.
The award for Best Innovation in Juice went to The Coca-Cola Company in Turkey for its Cappy Ramadan Sherbet, a limited edition juice drink flavour launched only for the Ramadan period in Turkey.
The product is based on a traditional sherbet beverage served in Turkey during the fasting month of Ramadan, first recorded as being consumed over 600 years ago in Ottoman palaces.
Based on a mixture of sour cherry and red grape juice, Cappy’s Ramadan Sherbet is further enriched with plum, ginger, clove and fig extract.
The award was accepted by Hasan Babacan of The Coca-Cola Company.
