The company started selling the berries in the UK for the first time in 2012. Sales have rocketed over the last year as more and more shoppers have started learning about their health qualities.
Terrafertil said the ‘little nuggets of gold’, which hail from the Andean foothills, had become a huge hit in the UK.
Lucy Tichivangana of Holland & Barrett said: “Dried Goldenberries have been flying off our shelves since the start of the year and we’re anticipating the success of Goldenberry Juice.”
Goldenberries contain more iron than spinach, more fibre than prunes and more potassium than three bananas (per 100g). They have three times less sugar than dried cranberries and contain three times more vitamin C than cherries, plus five times more protein than blueberries.
