One of my musings was about the development of more logistically shaped fruit, in cubes rather than spheres.
Well, someone has actually achieved this with a variety of fruit in Brazil. In fact, the idea has gone a step further than I dared anticipate.
Producer Camp Nectar has created reverse-embossed plastic casings to put around early buds, and the fruit then grows into that shape. The fruits are not only rectangular, but also ready branded.
The experiment is admirably captured on this YouTube video.
