Swedish fruit cider brand Älska has claimed 2% of the UK cider market since its introduction nearly two years ago.
Packaged in 500ml glass bottles, the cider is available through on-trade and off-trade retailers in strawberry and lime, Nordic berry, and lemon and ginger varieties. The 4% alcohol by volume beverage draws on its Stockholm identity and offers subtle fruit notes that appeals to a broad range of both cider drinkers and non-cider drinkers.
After becoming what the brand described as “one of the fastest growing examples of ‘long alcoholic drink’ category,” Älska has expanded the product into nine additional markets including South Korea, Russia, Hong Kong and Thailand.
Älska is Swedish for “love”.
The Swedish Cider Company sales and marketing director David Hughes said: “With our simple and minimal look, plus natural and fresh flavours, we’re delighted that Älska has been so well received in the past two years in the UK. We have developed modern takes on the most popular flavours and made them drier than our competitors, to enable us to engage with a trendy, young and influential UK crowd. We hope that this spring they too will continue to fall in love with Älska.”
