Food distributor Sysco has expanded its US distribution network with the acquisition of Louisiana-based Doerle Food Services.
Doerle Food Services distributes a range of products including meat, and seafood to the foodservice industry in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.
Sysco claims that Doerle Food Services will retain its current executive management team once the acquisition has been completed.
Tom Bené, Sysco’s president and chief executive officer said: “We are excited to welcome Doerle and its rich, long history to the Sysco family.
“Doerle has a sterling reputation of providing the highest quality products, cultivating deep, long-term relationships with customers and suppliers and providing impeccable service.
“We believe these principles align with Sysco’s vision of being our customers’ most valued and trusted business partner.
“As part of our strategic M & A plan, Sysco is focused on finding attractive growth opportunities which complement or expand the footprint of our core business.
“The acquisition of Doerle is a great fit for Sysco and reaffirms our commitment to creating value for our customers, associates and shareholders.”
The deal is the second Sysco has made this year, as last month the company announced it had agreed a deal to acquire UK-based distributor Kent Frozen Foods, strengthening its position in the UK market.
