The centre, which is located at the Sterlinga Business Centre, will provide efficient, effective and scalable business support services to Tate & Lyle’s global businesses, and will be Tate & Lyle’s principal location for providing shared services globally, the company said.
The new centre, which is part of a major programme launched by Tate & Lyle in January 2011 to significantly enhance its operational capabilities, will provide transactional and standard processes in finance, payroll services and an IT service desk. These services will migrate to the centre in a phased process over the next 15 months.
Tate & Lyle currently employs 70 people at the centre. By the time it is fully operational at the end of 2012, it will employ over 160 staff with multilingual capabilities supporting Tate & Lyle’s global business.
Javed Ahmed, chief executive, Tate & Lyle, said: “This is an exciting day for Tate & Lyle. Through the use of state of the art technology, the new centre will enable us to deliver high quality information to all our operations across the world, and to achieve significant efficiencies and economies of scale. The centre represents a key investment in the long-term future of Tate & Lyle.”
