The meadows will add to biodiversity on and around the happy egg farms by increasing the amount of flowers on them. It will also bring health and welfare benefits for the hens – bringing them natural feed options.
Habitat Aid is supplying the seeds which have been specifically selected from native species of British wildflowers and grasses. The wildflower seed mix contains nectar and pollen rich plants which attract bees and butterflies, creating a significant impact on the landscape.
Steve Horton, MD of The Happy Egg Co, said: “We have already planted trees on our ranges but this is such an exciting opportunity for us; while expanding on our environmental credentials we are also creating a beautiful habitat for our girls.”
