Thomas J Fudge’s Remarkable Bakery has launched three new products to its premium range of savoury biscuits, as it continues its bid to drive value into the category.
The company is introducing scrumptious spelt and seeded, and perfect poppy and sesame seed varieties of its biscuits, as well as new flaky cheddar straws. Their launch will be supported by an “eye-catching pack design to increase stand-out and ease of shop for consumers on-shelf”.
The family-run firm has claimed that the innovations were “designed to further enhance its premium positioning, and attract new consumers to the sector by providing a comprehensive range of savoury biscuits for different eating occasions”.
Thomas J Fudge managing director Steve Fudge said: “The scrumptious spelt and seeded and perfect poppy and sesame biscuits offer consumers two great-tasting, biscuit-style snacks to pair with cheese and share with friends – or enjoy with dips and chutneys, or straight from the pack, as a flavoursome alternative to traditional desk drawer treats. “To make this a viable option for consumers – and successfully bridge the gap between ‘indulgent’ and ‘healthy’ savoury – we individually wrapped two packs of the same flavour per box to keep the biscuits fresh and tap into the rising trend for healthy savoury snacking. “On the flip side, the flaky cheddar straws address growing demand for super premium, super indulgent savoury nibbles which can be enjoyed with friends at a party or during a relaxing evening at home, or as a ‘me-time’ treat.”
The new savoury launches will be rolled out this month in selected Waitrose supermarkets, with a recommended retail price of £2.25. The UK-based bakery will also make its most significant investment yet in a marketing campaign comprising PR, social media, digital and trade advertising.
