UK-based drinks agency, Tortuga Brands is expanding its whiskey portfolio with the launch of a new brand, Lambay Irish Whiskey.
The whiskey is the product of a collaboration between Camus and Baring, the world’s leading family-owned Cognac producer and the ancestral owners of Lambay Island respectively.
Lambay Irish Whiskey’s unique flavour is created through combining ancient Irish whiskey distilling techniques and French cognac maturing expertise.
“In a fast growing Irish Whiskey category, consumers today are looking for genuine and premium products that are special and created in small batches, with a sense of history and tradition. Lambay Irish Whiskey Company (LIWC) is delighted to partner with Tortuga Brands and the Lambay Whiskey range will be a great addition to their craft portfolio and dually give us the right level of focus in a very competitive and dynamic market,” said Jean-David Costerg, Managing Director of LIWC.
The spirit is available in two expressions; a small batch blend and a single malt edition. The small batch blend has been crafted with Lambay Island’s Trinity Well water making the whiskey as, “unique as the island itself”. While selected casks of the single malt have been exposed to the sea air to blend subtle notes of salt and seaweed into the spirit.
Tortuga Brands co-Founder, Peter Davie added: “Lambay is a wonderful product that has the unique proposition of being finished in cognac casks, giving a complex flavour to the whiskey with selected casks maturing on the island of Lambay adjacent to Dublin.”
Packaged in 70ml bottles at 40% ABV, the Small Batch Blend is priced at €41 and the Single Malt at €57.
