The investment forms part of Tradeteam’s Secondary Distribution fleet replacement programme, making it the first brewery logistics company in the UK to feature the technology.
The decision follows the addition last year of 113 teardrop trailers to Tradeteam’s Primary Distribution fleet, as part of its company-wide Go Green commitment.
Focusing on short deliveries to inner city and town locations, the new trailers are expected to produce a 2% fuel saving per year, over an average of 50,000 miles.
The new design eradicates an industry-wide design flaw by reducing the gap between the tractor and trailer, which allows air to eddy in front of the trailer, increasing drag.
