German milk processing company Uelzena has announced plans to build a new spray-drying plant at its Uelzen site in Lower Saxony.
With its new spray tower, Uelzena says it will expand its existing drying technology capacity and meet demands from the food processing industry, primarily for baby food manufacturers.
Described as ‘ultra-modern’, the plant will span across 2,400 square-metres and will focus on spray drying baby food components. The project reportedly enables Uelzena to meet the growing customer demand for spray-dried minerals and vitamins under the highest safety and hygiene standards.
Uelzena highlighted that the plant will also provide a direct connection to the new high-bay warehouse via an automatic conveyor line, in order to further ensure product quality.
According to Uelzena, the investment in its production facilities will boost capacity, increase diversification and help it achieve good financial results.
Currently, the Uelzen site employs about 500 staff, but Uelzena says additional personal will be required for the plant to run at full capacity.
With first foundations to be laid in January 2021, Uelzena estimates that the the plant will begin operations in summer 2022.
Uelzena manufactures spray-dried ingredients and milk fat preparations for the food industry, in addition to instant beverages and dairy products such as cheese and butter.
