A study conducted by online food delivery company hungryhouse.co.uk, which analysed Easter Sunday order rates across its international Delivery Hero network revealed significant differences in how countries across Europe celebrate Easter.
Poland proved to have the biggest drop, with a 95% decline in takeaway orders. Austria ranked second for ‘fewer orders’ at 40%, and Germany third with a 35% decrease.
However, in the UK and Sweden, there were no visible order differences on Easter Sunday in comparison to an average Sunday night. In fact, Easter Sunday topped off a record week for UK platform hungryhouse.
The study, which examined over 25,000 restaurants in the UK, Germany, Poland, Mexico, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland and Austria also found Finland had a moderate drop of 9%, Switzerland 18%, and placed Mexico in line with the UK and Sweden where there was no change in orders.
