A US-based distiller has launched a new whiskey, as it continues its tradition of finishing its whiskies in port casks.
Big Bottom Distilling’s new port cask-finished whiskey is the latest addition to its Big Bottom Barlow Trail product line. Retailing for $37.95, its introduction follows the launch of the range last autumn.
Big Bottom’s Barlow Trail is “a proprietary blend of three whiskeys with straight bourbon as its base. The blender finishes the blended whiskey in tawny port casks to give it a unique flavour profile. The whiskey offers a sweet berry and citrus nose. On the palate, it showcases a fresh, ripe berry followed by a hint of peppery spice that gives way to a smooth, rich and malty quality from the American oak port casks.”
Big Bottom Distilling owner Ted Pappas said: “Our customers are big fans of our finished bourbon, so it was a natural decision to finish the blended whiskey in the port casks. After tasting this beautiful whiskey, I have no doubt our port finished bourbon lovers will embrace it.”
