elemin Senonian Trace Minerals, VDF FutureCeuticals’ proprietary, all-natural complex of over 70 plant-based trace minerals, has earned self-affirmed GRAS status for use in food and beverages after a comprehensive review by an independent panel of experts.
The expert panel, organised by Dr James Heimbach, president of JHeimbach, LLC and former head of the US Food and Drug Administration’s consumer research and education staff, conducted a safety evaluation of elemin, its toxicology and mineral profile, and existing published research and concluded that elemin is safe for use in beverages and energy and nutritional bars, in addition to dietary supplements.
elemin Senonian Trace Minerals is cold-water extracted from a protected ancient peat (plant) deposit laid down during the Cretaceous period nearly 70 million years ago. Subsequently concentrated and dried by FutureCeuticals via a proprietary process, elemin Senonian Trace Minerals contains over 70 plant-based, small particle minerals in a 100% water-soluble fine white powder.
elemin is manufactured in carefully monitored 21 CFR, cGMP and HAACP food compliant facilities and is certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union.
Brad Evers, director of marketing, said: “The GRAS determination for this unique mineral complex illustrates FutureCeuticals’ standing as an organisation with the highest standards of safety and quality. As a leading provider of functional ingredients to food and beverage, as well as nutritional supplement, companies, FutureCeutical’s achievement of self-affirmed GRAS for elemin presents wide-ranging opportunities to deliver a safe, reliable, and comprehensive array of plant-derived trace minerals.”
